This one is for my girls one day.....

My sister put this quote on the family website and I just love it.  I was talking to my friend about how easy it is to put ourselves down so others don't feel inadequate around us, but this quote is a good reminder of what we should do.

"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small doesn't serve the world. There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We are born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us, it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."

Jesus Supper

I love things at Christmas time that help us to remember the true meaning.  Someone gave me the idea to do a "Jesus supper" which we did last night for the first day of the advent calendar.
We tried to eat foods that Jesus would have eaten like flat bread, grapes, cheese, fish, figs and raisins. The kids loved sitting  on the floor and using their fingers. There was something very calming about it.  Lexi kept calling it a "royal lunch", which it was!

I'm so crafty

Actually, I am terrible at crafts.  But today I made my FAVORITE CRAFT EVER!  I think I love it so much because I know I will use it year after year.  It's an advent calendar with cute little boxes that we modge podged with christmas paper.  Each day the kids get to open a box and inside will be an idea of something Christmas-y to do.     Like a recipe for snowman soup (see below), read a Christmas story or go to the Nativity.  I know they will love this new tradition.  It was so easy to make, and it was really fun hanging out with the girls at the same time!  We are still looking for things to put in our boxes....  does anyone have any ideas?

1 individual pack hot chocolate mix
5 Hershey's chocolate kisses
12-17 mini-marshmallows
1 small candy cane

My Very Own

I am so excited to be doing my own blog!!!  I love reading other people's blogs so I thought it was time to start my own.  Well, actually, I thought that a long time ago, but I just can't take it anymore...I need to be a blogger!  I am so thankful to Stephanie who is teaching me and helping to make it cute...which it will be soon.  I am also thankful to everyone who's blogs I have been reading (or snooping, depending on how you look at it :) for inspiring me.  It has been so much fun reading about your lives. What a fun way to journal and to share my life with others.

So here's a toast to me and my new blog.
